Our Past

Phantoms Water Polo Club celebrated it’s 25th anniversary in 2012 and what better way to mark the occasion than with the formation of our first Premier League Men’s team. The team headed by Club Coach Scott Chrystal competed in the 2011-12 W.A. Water Polo summer season and finished fouth in a season full of great water polo and close finishes.

Phantoms began in 1987 with a single men’s team formed by an enthusiastic group of former players wanting to keep fit and enjoy playing this fantastic team sport once more.

The club now boasts 15 senior league teams participating in almost every grade in the State League competition including both men and women.

In 2010 the club embarked on an ambitious project to start a Junior Water Polo programme for ages seven through to fourteen at Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre. As a result of that the club now has 9 junior teams competing in the WA Water Polo State Junior League.

The programmes which run in terms one and four of the school calendar year in combination with our existing senior and high performance grades provide a seamless development pathway for players wanting to achieve their highest potential in water polo.

The club also has links with the Western Australian Institute of Sport talent identification programmes and as such can nominate players for consideration for selection into the prestigious Institute Underpinning Programme which provides high performance tuition to compliment the existing club coaching progamme.

Our Future

The future of Phantoms Water Polo Club will be reflected in the success of our juniors and high performance players as well as the stable club structure our social players provide. We have built an environment where players of all ages and abilities can be the best they can, by providing great coaching and a culture that reflects strong family values.

Phantoms Water Polo Club enjoys an enviable reputation as a club that makes everyone welcome and values participation and enjoyment as much as winning. We are an inclusive club that has a place for anyone interested in being part of water polo.

These basic principles have been the foundation of who we are and what we do.

There is an open invitation to all members of the public whether experienced or not to get involved in this wonderful sport. E-mail our club secretary for details of playing and training opportunities at secretary@phantomswpc.com.au
